Invited Session on Population-based Metaheuristics

16th International Conference on

Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems

San Sebastian, Spain
10, 11 & 12 September 2012,

  1. Introduction

The aim of the session on "Population-based metaheuristics" is to bring together researchers interested in various metaheuristics and problem solving techniques based on population evolution as well as to discuss these issues, to present current research results and to share their experience. Topics of submitted papers should focus on population-based metaheuristics used to enhance and support approaches to solving optimization problems.

  2. Information for authors

The papers will be reviewed by KES International Program Committee. The best submissions will be selected for presentation and will be included in the conference proceedings. The papers should present original and unpublished research. The conference proceedings are planned to be published and distributed by Springer-Verlag in series LNCS/LNAI. Submitted papers for session should be prepared in LNCS/LNAI style and should be limited to 10 pages. All submissions must be sent electronically using the PROSE software review system.

A selected number of accepted and personally presented papers will be expanded and revised for possible inclusion in special issues in the several prestigious international journals.

  3. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

    • Population-based implementations of metaheuristics
    • Hybrid population-based metaheuristics
    • Tools and applications for population-based metaheuristics
    • Population-based metaheuristics for multi-objective optimization
    • Cooperative optimization and problem solving
    • Distributed optimization
    • Parallel metaheuristics
    • Agent-based implementations of metaheuristics
